Principal Training Objectives:
Those who successfully complete this course will be able to work effectively with a range of learner groups, carry out job analysis and training needs analysis and design and deliver training programmes to meet these needs.
Training Plan and Duration: This 6 day course will be presented over 3 weeks as follows:
- Day 1: Theory of training and adult learning
- Day 2: Role of the Trainer
- Day 3: Training needs analysis and programme design
- Day 4: Preparation for delivering training
- Days 5,6: Delivery, assessment & evaluation of training
Students will be expected to prepare a personal portfolio reflecting their learning experiences during the course, in addition to the two marked assignments. This will require students to commit some of their own time between modules and is facilitated by the scheduling of our training presentations.
Training Methods:
Tuition for this course will be presented using "PowerPoint" presentations, videos and practical demonstrations. Comprehensive documentation is provided to complement this tuition along with any necessary materials. Students will also participate in numerous class workshops and role play exercises (where training skills are practiced).
Assessment methods:
A personal portfolio must be prepared by each student to reflect their experiences of learning and will be submitted at the conclusion of the course along with the course assignments. The course assignments will be designed to show how each student can plan, research and prepare two different training programmes. They will then deliver them and demonstrate how to evaluate their effectiveness.
There will be an end-of-course examination where students will present training in at least two skills to demonstrate their presentational skills and effective use of various learning aids.
Who this Course is intended for:
This course is designed for those wishing to design, deliver and assess the training of others. It is suitable for persons with at least a Junior Certificate qualification in English and one technical subject (e.g. mathematics), and with a level of self-confidence to allow them to stand up and deliver training to strangers.
Preferred level of qualification: FETAC level 5 Certificate, or a Leaving Certificate, and relevant life and work experiences.
Assessment and Certification:
Successful participants will be accredited (by Daralinn Health & Safety) as qualified to act as trainers and entered for FETAC certification (at level 6).
Presenter:
The course will be delivered by a qualified and highly-experienced instructor who holds a Diploma in Training Development, a Certificate in Adult Teaching and Masters Degree in Education.
