- History of Private Security Industry in Ireland
- Common Terms and Definitions used by security industry
- Duties and Responsibilities of a Security Guard: Patrolling, Recording and Reporting, Gate and Entry Duties, Command and Control Facilities, Good Housekeeping Practices
- Principles of preventing loss
- Principles of Quality and Customer Care
- Electronic Security Systems
- Security Hardware
- Retail Security procedures
- Interpreting the legislation - Codes of Practice, Criminal and Civil Law, Codes of Conduct and how the industry is licensed.
Day Two
- Health and Safety Law, Fire Services Act
- Employment Law
- Communications Skills
- Emergency Procedures, using emergency equipment and Personal Protective equipment
- Teamwork
- Revision and summation
- Written Examination
- Practical Skills Demonstration Tests (two tests, to be recorded for review by FETAC)
Awards: Candidates who pass the examination and tests will receive a certificate on completion of the course with accreditation by FETAC to follow after due process.

- Duties and responsibilities of Door Security Personnel: Search of a person, Refusal of entry, Recording and Reporting of Incidents
- Interpreting the legislation - Codes of Practice, Criminal and Civil Law, Codes of Conduct, Health and safety, Liquor Licensing Laws, Equality legislation, Statutory bodies authorised to enter a premises
- Methods of recognising common illegal Drug types, Drug abuse and Drug dealing
- Typical incidences that may lead to conflict or violence in the workplace
- Conflict Resolution Techniques
- Customer care
Day Two
- Identification of common injuries and methods of limiting further risk or injury
- Fire Training, Principal Causes of Fire, Fire prevention Methods, Means of reducing Fire spread, Means of limiting damage, Preserving the scene of an Incident or Accident.
- Practical and Emergency Procedures
- Revision and summation
- Written Examination
- Practical Skills Demonstration Tests (two tests, to be recorded for review by FETAC) [The Practical Skills demonstration tests will be filmed and sent on to FETAC for external accreditation along with the written exam papers.]
