Employee Safety Awareness Training
Who should attend: All new employees and any existing staff who have not previously received health and safety training.
Duration: ½ day
Training Objectives: On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Identify their responsibilities with regard to Health & Safety in the workplace
- Understand the importance of communication between management and employees
- Identify the hazards and risks applicable to their workplace
- Understand the importance and their role in the Company Safety Statement
Course Details: Training will cover the following topics:
- Employee responsibilities defined by the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the applicable General Application Regulations (incl. Personal Protective Equipment Regulations)
- Employees role in hazard identification and risk assessment
- Employees role in accident reporting and investigation.
Method of Training: The course includes classroom presentation and discussion. Videos, Powerpoint presentations and discussions are used during the course. It can be run either at clients premises (providing suitable facilities are available) or in the Wexford Training Centre. Handouts and all necessary materials are provided for students and signed training records maintained.
Note:This can be made site-specific to a particular work environment.
Risk Assessment Workshop
Who should attend: Any staff member with the responsibility of controlling hazards. This course will enable students to carry out their own risk assessments and hazard audits so that policies, procedures and control measures can be implemented.
Duration: 1 Day
Training Objectives:
- Gain an understanding of health and safety law in regard to risks assessment
- Appreciate the legal duties of employers and employees and the corporate responsibilities for contractors, agency personnel, visitors and others
- Gain a sound practical appreciation of how to carry out risk assessments, including the use of accident investigations
- Be introduced to practical work place tools that delegates will use when they return to their individual work places e.g. check sheets and risk assessment matrixes

Method of Training: The course includes classroom presentation using videos and Powerpoint presentations, followed by real life risk assessments where students will build safe systems of work, method statements and consider special issues such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and training needs. Delegates will be encouraged to discuss their own workplace experiences and begin to assess existing measures to control any hazards with balance and measure.Handouts and all necessary materials are provided for students and signed training records maintained.
