Counter Balance Forklift Beginners Training

 

Who should attend: Personnel intending to drive this type of Forklift truck who are experienced but have no recognised certification.

Duration: 2 Days

Presenters: Delivered by RTITB qualified Instructors.

Details: This course is designed for experienced drivers in order to instruct them in the safe operation of a Forklift truck, to give them practice in the techniques of safe driving and to then test their knowledge and technique so as to certify them to RTITB requirements.

Objectives: To ensure that all drivers are qualified to safely operate, drive and secure this type of forklift truck so as to ensure their own safety and the safety of others;
To be reminded of the hazards of operating the vehicle.

Awards: Each participant will receive a certificate on successfully completing the course that is accredited by RTITB and is valid for a further 3 years. It is recommended that participants do a follow up refresher course in order to keep their certification valid. The certificate awarded complies with all requirements under current Health and Safety Legislation.

Who should attend: Certified drivers of this type of forklift truck who need to update their certification.

Duration: 1 Day

Presenters: Delivered by RTITB qualified Instructors.

Details: This course is designed for certified drivers in order to retest their acceptable knowledge and technique.

Objectives: To ensure that all drivers are qualified to safely operate, drive and secure this type of forklift truck so as to ensure their own safety and the safety of others;
To be reminded of the hazards of operating the vehicle.

POWER PALLET TRUCK - LOW LEVEL

Who should attend: Personnel intending to operate a power pallet truck who have no certification.

Duration:1 Day

POWER PALLET TRUCK-HIGH LEVEL

Who should attend: Personnel intending to operate a high-level power pallet truck. Trainees will need either to be qualified in low-level use of a power pallet truck or to have equivalent experience.

Duration:1 Day

Details: This course is designed to ensure that all operators are trained to safely operate a high-level power pallet truck.

Objectives: To ensure that participants are trained and qualified to safely operate and secure this type of pallet truck so as to ensure their own safety and the safety of others;
To understand the hazards of operating the vehicle.

Awards: Each participant will receive a certificate on successfully completing the course that is accredited by RTITB. MOBILE ELEVATED WORK PLATFORM (MEWP)

Who should attend: Persons with experience in operating this type of equipment but who do not hold a certified qualification demonstrating their competence.
NOTE: Potential trainees must be able to work at height.

Duration: 1 Day.

No.of trainees: maximum 6 per course.

Presenters: Delivered by IPAF qualified Instructors.

Details: This course is designed for experienced operators in instruct them in the knowledge of applicable regulations etc. to which they must comply and in the safe operation of a MEWP. The course gives them a limited amount of practice in the techniques of safe driving.
All training and assessment, both theoretical and practical, takes place at the Wexford Training Centre using Centre equipment.

Objectives:

  • To ensure that all drivers are trained to safely operate, drive, secure and maintain this type of equipment so as to ensure their own safety and the safety of others;

  • To demonstrate habits of good operating practice and overriding consciousness of safety;

  • To know how to carry out safety checks;

  • To work safely at height while operating this type of equipment;

  • To understand the responsibilities and duties of a MEWP operator under current legislation;

  • To understand the hazards (potential consequences) of operating the equipment;

  • To know safe working loads and other parameters necessary to the safe operation of equipment.

Assessment: Each operator will be assessed on the basis of both acceptable knowledge and operating technique.

Awards: On successfully completing the course and passing the assessment tests each participant will receive a certificate that is accredited by IPAF and is valid for 5 years. This certification complies with requirements under current Health and Safety Legislation.

ABRASIVE WHEELS SAFETY

Who should attend: All employees who have to operate equipment fitted with abrasive wheels. It also provides participants with the expertise required to mount an abrasive wheel.

Duration: ½ day

Training Objectives:On completion of this course participants will:

  • have appropriate knowledge of hazards and dangers of working with Abrasive Wheels. acquire the expertise needed to mount an abrasive wheel. be able to list the legal requirements of working with Abrasive Wheels. be able to select the appropriate wheel or cutting disc for the job. be able to correctly mount and use an abrasive wheel.

  • be able to understand the function of abrasive wheel equipment (fixed or portable).

Course Details: Training will cover the following topics:

  1. Abrasive Wheels Regulations 1982 hazards of working with abrasive wheels causes of abrasive wheels accidents methods of selecting the correct wheel for the job function of the various components (flanges, blotters etc.) inspection and testing of abrasive wheels guarding of grinding and cutting machines distinctions between grinding and cutting operations

  2. dressing and truing of wheels

SAFETY HARNESS Training

Duration: ½ Day

Training Objectives: On completion of this course the participants will be able to:-

Understand The Law/Regulations relating to Safety Harnesses Appreciate the hazards and methods of dealing with same in relation to Fall Arrest Systems and Working at Heights Appreciate Safety Harnesses, Fall Arresters and Anchorage Connectors and use of same

Course Details:

  • Legislation - case law & common law Accidents - causation & avoidance Site Safety awareness - Emergency Procedures, Hazardous Areas, Electricity, Machinery etc Personal Protective Equipment Fall prevention systems Fall arrest systems Situations requiring fall protection European standards re: harnesses etc

  • Maintenance & Storage

Method of Training: Participants will be trained to develop a very high standard of safety awareness and be given various scenarios/opportunities to practice the correct use of safety harness. Classroom presentations (videos, Powerpoint presentations, discussions etc.) will precede practical work with the trainees.

Maximum Number of Participants: 12 people

CONFINED SPACE Training

Duration: 1 Day

Max.: 8 per course (NOTE: Participants must be medically fit and have verifiable evidence of having been trained in using Breathing Apparatus.)

Training Objectives: On completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand responsibilities of confined space entrant

  • Understand responsibilities of supervisor

  • Understand responsibilities of observer

  • Understand and concur purposes of, and procedures for, confined space work permit system

  • Be familiar with the confined space rescue procedure through having practiced it

  • Understand and operate gas detection equipment

Course Details:

  1. Introduction to course, examples of what can go wrong

  2. Identifying the hazards and assessing the risks that can be encountered while working in confined spaces

  3. Safe working procedures and practices to minimize the risks

  4. Testing for dangerous atmospheres in confined spaces

  5. Rescue procedures

  6. Practical exercises

  7. Assessments (practical and theory)

Method of Training:The course includes classroom presentation using videos, Powerpoint presentations and discussions, followed by practical demonstrations and opportunities for participants to practice correct techniques. Each student will also be assessed on both the theory and practice of confined space safety. Award: Each candidate who attends the course and successfully demonstrates their understanding and ability during assessments is given a Certificate of Achievement.

TRACTOR SAFETY AWARENESS

Duration: 1 day (this course can be presented at a location of your choice)

Max No: 12 participants per course

Training Objectives: On completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Operate a tractor safely

  • Reduce to an acceptably low level the risk of injury to themselves and others

  • Conduct safety checks on a tractor to ensure its condition is safe to operate

  • Operate a tractor without creating risk of overturning or jack knifing

  • Park a tractor securely and safely

  • Avoid risks of crushing, slips and falls

  • Select and use appropriate PPE for operating the vehicle

  • Understand the hazards in relation to Hydraulic Oil and the control measures to observe so as to reduce associated risks

Course Details:

  1. Introduction to course

  2. Explanation and demonstration of the various Safety Checks, including:

  3. controls, cab condition, PTO , lights, mirrors, indicators, wipers and brakes

  4. Explanation, demonstration and practice in the correct procedures to adopt when operating a tractor

  5. Correct PPE selection and use

  6. Accidents - causes and prevention

Method of Training: The course includes classroom presentation using videos, Powerpoint presentations and discussions, followed by practical demonstrations and hands-on opportunities for participants to practice correct techniques of driving etc.

(Handouts, all necessary materials and lunch are provided for students and signed training records are maintained).
