Who should attend: Persons with experience in operating this type of equipment but who do not hold a certified qualification demonstrating their competence.
NOTE: Potential trainees must be able to work at height.
Duration: 1 Day.
No. of trainees: maximum 6 per course.
Presenters: Delivered by IPAF qualified Instructors.
Details: This course is designed for experienced operators in instruct them in the knowledge of applicable regulations etc. to which they must comply and in the safe operation of a MEWP. The course gives them a limited amount of practice in the techniques of safe driving.
All training and assessment, both theoretical and practical, takes place at the Wexford Training Centre using Centre equipment.
Objectives:
- To ensure that all drivers are trained to safely operate, drive, secure and maintain this type of equipment so as to ensure their own safety and the safety of others;
- To demonstrate habits of good operating practice and overriding consciousness of safety;
- To know how to carry out safety checks;
- To work safely at height while operating this type of equipment;
- To understand the responsibilities and duties of a MEWP operator under current legislation;
- To understand the hazards (potential consequences) of operating the equipment;
- To know safe working loads and other parameters necessary to the safe operation of equipment.
Assessment: Each operator will be assessed on the basis of both acceptable knowledge and operating technique.
Awards: On successfully completing the course and passing the assessment tests each participant will receive a certificate that is accredited by IPAF and is valid for 5 years. This certification complies with requirements under current Health and Safety Legislation.
